还是星期日

在结束时，仿佛较特别珍惜一切，一切。

昨天结束这个学期最后一次的教学，回顾过去，发觉自己并不是什么很好的老师，在教学前一天，常只是略略的看过。很喜欢到佛教会去教书，一来很喜欢小孩的无邪、没有心机、比较诚实，至少他们对自己的感觉诚实。说来惭愧，常常让小孩欺负、作弄，虽然教书时都平安无事，但那只是暴风雨前的平静，一下课，一部分的学生都涌上来，为我“瘙痒”，而这却偏偏是我最怕的。或许是因果吧，可能我前世常对他们如此，又或者我没对他们太严厉，才让他们欺负。

我朋友在我第一次教学时说，对学生要严厉些，他们才不会造反。可是，对我而言，不必板着脸地对待他们，但把他们当成朋友，在教导他们的同时，也给他们一些娱乐，要不他们只会眼看着书，心飘在沙滩。和他们一起玩时，却感觉不到平时的压力，那时那刻仿佛都和一切绝缘，只感觉如置身于天真的草原，和小孩一起游玩。

在那里，有一位小弟弟和一位小妹妹常常粘着我。只要一下课，他们就会拉着我到处走，常常要我背着他们到处走。虽如此，我却不知道他们的名字是什么，而他们却常常叫我“百变熊”。虽不怎么酷，但我想至少和周星驰的“百变新君”有得比吧。在下课后，当他们知道昨天是我们今年最后一次教书时，都嚷着不让我们走，说下星期让我们不要考试，而回来教他们读书。说实在的，自己也不怎么舍得离开他们，尤其那两位可爱的小弟弟和小妹妹。无奈集聚皆消散。

在这最后一天，我才知道我教了这么多天，其实是有工钱的。当我朋友告诉我时，我很惊讶，然而我让他将我的工钱还回给佛教会，毕竟我并没尽过什么老师的责任，而且佛陀教化众生数十年，也不曾想任何一人，祈求任何一样事物，那我又算什么？

常常因为结果，让自己起伏不定。这难道不是珍惜过程的重要吗？

建桥比赛（照片）

因为学校的线不允许，所以今天才把照片放上部落格。当然，整个比赛里，还有更多更好的桥，那只有在我面书里看了。

建桥比赛

结局只是过程的代表，珍惜一路上的风景，比结局的喜悦更有意义。

早在上个学期，就已经开始想着还未开始的建桥比赛。那时，便已开始收集有关比赛的资料。然而，那时的我队比赛的条规一知半解，所以只能看看其大概。

在这个学期的来临，便时时刻刻注意有关比赛的消息。最终，通过了筛选而进入了比赛。无可否认，第三年的土木工程师忙的一年，但为了这梦想，为了能够学习得更多，决定了参加这比赛。在做桥的过程中，虽然有着一些人事问题，但对我来说，这并不会阻止我去比赛的决心。

在做桥的开始，我们并没有如期他的组别一样，忙至三更半夜，因为一开始的我们，只是专注于桥的设计和稳固性，在加强当中的不足。一直到比赛的前一个星期，我们才开始得到真正的设计，从此，我们开始建筑我们第三个桥，也就是比赛的桥。在比赛的前一天，我在忙着做我们的多媒体，好在我能再上巴士前赶完，要不可就头疼了。

在抵达的夜晚，我们开始布置我们的展览棚。过后还让我在UTM的朋友带我到处逛逛。但也很不好意思，因为时间的关系，无法去联络其他的朋友。而在比赛的第一天，虽然我们并不是第一，但我们的成绩却让我们相当满意。在第二天的比赛，面对着裁判尖锐的问题让我们流冷汗。但也好在我们对来者都很热情，让我们在第一天时，和其中一位裁判交流，虽然当时我们并不知道。这或许是我们得到裁判最佳选择奖吧。因为我们的设计和解释，让我们得到了最佳设计和可建性奖。

Notes for Bridge Competition

Planing
- Need to be prepare at the early sem or at least 2 months before.
- Design
* Can design base on aims, such as aiming the price. However it is not advisible, because this
will restrain the other aspect.
* To get the lightest, can choose a big arch type where the deck will at the lowest point as a
horizontal movement restrain member.
* To get the creativity, this maybe can be done by creating a landmark or a new type bridge.
However, this do not have a judge point.
* In our case, creativity and buildability is come togather, hence, we win the price because of
our bridge is design base on the real stuation.
* To be share, we are sugested to think our bridge design without consider the difficulty
come during construction.
* If your deck is place high, design your bridge with higher thickness in the center, so that
increase the strength of the bridge. No need worry about the weight, that can be done
by punching hole is your wood layer or refer to advisor.
- the proposal need to pass to advisor, so that can make some adjustment before the design been
firm and can make sure the proposal is complete with no error.

Modelling
- Not to follow the result of shortlist, model it, so that you have enough time to modify after that,
or at least built one for yourself.
- There are lot type of balsa wood, think about the construction need, and also the rules and
regulations.
- Arch constuction
* Cut it in correct span and bend a little bit, span depends on the arch size.
* To get the correct span, this can be done by drawing in a real size, or better is draw in
autocad and print it in 1:1 size.
* For autocad drawing, it is advisible to draw out the wood layering, this can make your
drawing clearer,
- Becareful with base consturction, make it stable as you can. Howeever, it is not just affected by
the base construction, it also depends on the deck that joint after that. Study for your
experience,
- There are lot type of glue, however, eposy not always be the best choice. Choose the one that
suit you most. For example, we using 3 seconds glue to make sure it joint faster but it will be
absorbed by wood. This might increase the weight, however, it is not significant for us.
- Be prepare, cause you not going to get all the thing done by one model.

Multimedia
- Mostly, google sketchup is been used, because of it is easier to handle than any other software,
- However, there still got other 3D software, like autodesk product. But it took us long time to
learn and difficult to use since we not that familiar with it. However, it is good to learn
something new, cause we going to use some autodesk product after we graduate, it can be one
of our advantage to apply job.

Competition
- Prepare your landscape and booth design before going to competition. For us, the table at booth
is around 2m and the booth length just slightly longer than it.
- Treat everyone as your customer, this might help you in presentation, as you pratice it to
them. However, you need to study your bridge much, because you not going to tell other your
weakness, but still need be prepare for other good observation.
- What we notice is, there are some judge came before the judgement, and act like normal
lecturer in their school. If you willing to talk, there might be another advantage for you.
- During the judgement, there might be a lot of question that came from judge and it might out of
your expectition. However, not to panic, some question is need not to answer, because it is not
related to the competition and you also have not much time to do the thing as their question
mention about,

Advice
Competition is a chance for you to learn, price is not important, however, is better if can get it, but the most important is the experience gain during the process. Learn to apply what have you experience before, treat is as a mini project in your education life, Remember to enjoy during the competition, go around and have a look, you can learn more by other bridge also.
